HIGH RESOLUTION

Resolution – to take the bull by the horns, to nail one’s colours to the mast, to burn one’s boats, to screw one’s courage to the sticking post, to mean business, to set one’s teeth, to steel oneself, to take a decisive step, to take one’s stand.

The theme for this exhibition, is a culmination of a burning desire and determination to discover the potential of my unique, artistic voice and, to push to the limit, new found painting techniques developed during a period of intense experimental processes in the studio.

Taking approximately nine months to create, this body of work is the result of undeterred perseverance to forge through the quagmire of self doubt, expectation of others and questions arising in my mind, ‘Is this good enough?’ The truth is, that for the past three years I’ve been intent on the quest to find myself and to reclaim many lost years of unproductivity due to a family tragedy. Time has swept away many tears, and the River of Life has created fresh, new possibilities to unwrap.

With a renewed boldness and confidence, my quest has been to, fearlessly, take huge risks in my art making. I consistently and purposefully apply new techniques with different tools and art materials, and paint from purely emotive responses from my heart, disregarding any analytical screams of negativity from the past. This new, enlarged space is very exciting and liberating for me. I feel as though a great threshold of shrinking, limiting mindsets has been crossed and conquered.

HIGH RESOLUTION has been such an adventure of self-realisation, stemming from a deeply personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. Grasping the courage I desperately needed to pursue the call on my art practice, the revelation unfolded that ‘all things are possible to him who believes’.
